Storyboard - Ridwan

My pitch for our opening with the genre ‘crime’ is to open the film with disequilibrium. I want the film to start off with a murder and to create an opening that builds up the audience’s suspense.

My opening started in a disequilibrium state, the film is introduced with a medium shot of a dark small narrow corridor with a door half opened at one end, the audience cannot see what is in the room except darkness, there is small amounts of blood on the corridors floor, the camera slowly zooms out. 

The next camera shot is a black screen, following the black screen is the same corridor but this time the camera is further away from the door, the camera also slowly zooming out. 

The following camera shot is another black screen; these black screens are used to build up the audience’s suspense.

After this black screen we see the same corridor again but again further away but this time we see part of a mysterious man holding a knife with bloodstains, the camera continues to slowly zoom out. 

The next screen shot is a close up of the knife with the bloodstains. 

Following this screen shot we see the corridor again but this time closer to the door and at a high angle, this time the camera slowly starts to zoom in. 

This screen shot is then followed by the same screen shot but this time much more closer to the door, the audience still cannot see inside the room. 

The next screen shot is at the door and the camera zooms into the room. We then see a dead body (but do not see the face, only part of the arm of the dead body), the camera goes closer to body but before we see the face the screen black out. 

  

We hear a radio transmission between a police officer at the scene of the crime with the police station, this conversation will be about how the person has died (5 stab wounds to the chest, etc.) the police officer at the scene will then continue to say, its definitely him (audience are not aware who ‘him’ is), we then hear a door open, the officer is still talking on the radio, we suddenly hear a gun shot and the officer stops talking. This is my pitch for our opening segment for the genre ‘Crime’.
