Sound Research

S.A.R.K MEDIA’S group looked into various different crime and action films. And we have come across music, which is suspenseful and mysterious. Crime films are meant to have music, which sounds quiet, and creepy this adds to the uncertainty of the audience.

The music and sounds used in our film opening is sort of thriller and mysterious music. The way in which the audience will recognize that something really important is going to happen in the film soon. By keeping the audience intrigued with the loud music, it shows they want to know what will happen next. In films such as Die Hard and Dark Knight, which we used in our blog, the director uses loud music to add suspense.

The first few seconds of the film opening the music sounds as if there has been a robbery and the someone is creeping along, then it gradually gets louder to make sure the audience are still watching anticipating that something is going to happen.

The Gunshot scene its one of the main scenes, the sound used for the gunshot had to sound exactly like the gun in the scene, if it sounded like a machine gun it would have ruined the whole opening scene. We researched what types of guns have what types of sounds using, Google, Youtube and clips from crime/action films.

In the last scene where the thief (Khayrul Islam) opens the stolen briefcase, we use popular cheerful but still creepy music to describe to things, the surrounding of the thief and the feelings of the thief. The reason we use emotional expressing music is so that the audience know what is going on.

We listened to this type of music and it gave us an idea of what we could use in our film opening.
